I Hope You’re Still Chasing the Sky

Today someone mentioned a solar eclipse and I immediately thought of you.
The grief hit me so fast I didn’t even have time to process it.
I remembered how much you loved weather and space, and every rare event that came with them. You had this passion for chasing eclipses, storms, meteor showers, anything that made you feel connected to something bigger. It was something I never really understood. Honestly, those things never interested me all that much until I got to experience them with you.
I think that’s what love does sometimes. It lets you see the world through someone else’s eyes.
Your passion became something I looked forward to because it meant seeing you light up. Watching you talk about it, plan trips around it, get excited like a little kid. It made me appreciate something I never would have appreciated on my own.
And now you’re gone. Not from this world, but from a life beside me. And that is still so hard for me.
I hope life is treating you with more kindness than it did before. I hope you’ve found love that feels safe. I hope you’re traveling, chasing the things that make your heart come alive, and finding joy in all the places you dreamed of seeing.
I miss you.
I still love you, and I think a part of me always will.
I’m sorry I didn’t know how to be a better partner. There are so many things I understand now that I didn’t understand then. You deserved so much more than I knew how to give, and I genuinely hope you’ve found that.
Experiencing 14 years with you, will be memories I cherish, until I’m no longer here.
