Community Care

Watching the community come together when our government has failed them and still finding a way to make sure people are fed has filled my heart with so much warmth. There’s something about seeing people show up for each other that just gets to me. It’s a kind of care that reminds me of what we’re capable of when compassion leads the way.

My heart still hurts for the people impacted, though. Even with all the help being offered, I know the stress of it all doesn’t just disappear. Not everyone has the means to reach the resources that exist, and that’s a reality I can’t ignore. There’s always that extra layer of worry for the ones who fall through the cracks, for the ones trying their best just to get by.

I hope one day we live in a world where hunger isn’t part of anyone’s story. Not their past, not their present, not their future. A world where food and safety aren’t privileges, but things we can count on.

Author’s Note:

Written from a place of gratitude and ache. Grateful for the kindness that still exists, and aching that it has to.

Hands of diverse individuals grasp an empty wooden bowl on a concrete surface, symbolizing unity and need, with a somber mood.
